Paris, May 2023 – Cyrille Vigneron, CEO, Cartier, Marie-Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability and Institutional Affairs Officer, Kering, and Iris Maria Alexis Van der Veken, Executive Director and Secretary General, WJI 2030 had the honor of welcoming M. Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice, to Kering’s Headquarters in Paris. This meeting, held in the context of the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, focused on the collaboration between the European Commission and the private sector to advance corporate sustainability due diligence, human rights, and environmental practices within global value chains.
The discussion centered on the mutual commitment to promoting responsible practices across the fashion and luxury sectors. The European Commission and members of the Watch & Jewellery Initiative are working together to develop a pilot project that will drive progress in corporate sustainability due diligence. This project aims to enhance the implementation of human rights and environmental standards throughout the industry.
As a strong advocate for collective action, WJI 2030 firmly believes that collaboration between public and private sectors is instrumental in achieving sustainable and impactful results. They are committed to working in partnership with government entities, industry peers, and stakeholders to address complex challenges and drive positive change.
